Covid-19 Friendship Project

I moved to a new country right before a global pandemic hit.
After months of social distancing (and no new friends) I publicly asked for friends in Toronto.
A few heartfelt words kickstarted a Covid-19 friendship movement across the city.
Turns out I wasn’t the only one feeling lonely.

I made the below post to a local Facebook group. After the post generated nearly 500 engagements, I realized I'd struck a chord. So the next day I filmed a "Thank You" video in the rain and posted it to the same group, along with a link to a simple website I'd built overnight with a manifesto & form.

The friend requests flowed in fast and furious. Over 1,000 people filled out the web form and joined my online Facebook community.

And I earned over 10 million impressions in less than 2 weeks from the national press coverage. I was interviewed by CBC Radio, the National Post, BlogTO and featured on BreakfastTV amongst others.
